Marc Mwatha holds a BA degree in Philosophy (Higher Institute of Philosophy, Saint Augustin, Kalonda, DRC), an MA degree in Theology (Catholic University of Louvain), an MA degree in Sociology and Anthropology (Catholic University of Louvain) and a MA degree in Sociology (Catholic University of Louvain). He joined CEDEM in February 2021 as a PhD student. His doctoral thesis, prepared under the supervision of Prof Marco Martiniello, focuses on the transnational political practices of Congolese migrants in Belgium, in relation to their country of origin. In addition to questions related to transnational political mobilizations of migrants, Marc Mwatha is also interested in questions related to legal pluralism, the relation between religion and politics, culture and religion, culture and politics, and social movements.
