Biography

Félicien de Heusch is postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Ethnic and Migration Studies (CEDEM), University of Liège, Belgium. He has completed there his PhD in Social and Political Sciences, as well as a Double Degree in Immigration Studies between the University of Liège and the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF, Barcelona) and a Bachelor Degree in Anthropology at the National University of Córdoba (UNC), in Argentina.

He was part of the European Research Council-funded project ¿Migration, Transnationalism and Social Protection in (post-) crisis Europe¿ (MiTSoPro). He was awarded a postodoctoral Fulbright scholarship at the Latin American Institute, University of California (UCLA), Los Angeles, U.S.A.

His research interests include death, social protection, transnationalism, Senegalese and Haitian migration, street vending and social movements. He conducted fieldwork in Belgium, Spain, Senegal, Brazil and Argentina. 

He published his work at the Revue Européene des Migrations Internationales, Petra Éditions, the International Journal of Qualitative Methods, Interventions, AmeriQuests and with the ONGs Eclosio and GISTI.
